This album was my first experience as a recording engineer and producer of a live band. Rod Middleton co-produced this album as well as laid down some seriously rocking guitar tracks. He's my guitar hero!
The album was recorded with only 16 tracks and minimal processing. At the time, I was just beginning to build up my studio gear. Heck, I didn't even own studio monitors...we actually used stereo speakers.
Musicians:

This is a sound clip of the original version of "Shimmerman". It was rejected by mp3.com due to "unauthorized audio content". Nevertheless, I always thought it was an important segment to the lyrical content of the song.

This is the album Rod and I recorded three months after we met.
I joined this band in January 1993 and we recorded Naked Edge in March 1993. These guys blew me away when I first heard the tape they sent. I went to the audition two weeks later and got the gig. That was an awesome day! I had played with great musicians before, but this was something way beyond what I'd ever experienced before. Three months after the recording of this album, we went from a five piece to a four member band and that's when the real fun began!!! We were technical monsters that no band in the Cincinnati area could touch. We recorded another album in 1994 that was a technical frenzy of aural delights. Unfortunately, we had some serious phase problems on the recording so the quality is very poor. But, man...does it rock!!
Musicians:
Rod Middleton - Guitar, vocals
Mike Birkemeier - Bass guitar, Moog Taurus Pedals
George Harp - Lead Vocals
Jon Biondo - Percussion, vocals

Aberrent - '94 (c1994 & c2001)
This album is the second and final recording Aberrent made. We used my Fostex X-28 four track recorder, mixed down to Hi-Fi VHS, back onto the Fostex X-28 for overdubs, and then mastered the final mix to Hi-Fi VHS. Somewhere along the way, we encountered a phase problem (the sound of swishing cymbals). I have no idea what happened to the master cassettes for the Fostex X-28. I'd love to have had a chance to remix this album. Since then, I've never allowed master recordings to leave my immediate possession. My favorite song from this album is "Eye of the Storm". It Smokes!!!
